We use the most advanced laser technology to disperse the tattoo ink throughout the skin. The laser breaks up the coloured pigment used in the tattoo. Black ink is the easiest to disperse with this technology, so the darker the art, the easier it can be to fade. As the laser pushes the ink through one layer of skin to the next, the ink gradually becomes increasingly less visible until it has dissipated completely or it has faded enough for you to feel satisfied that it is no longer obvious.
Laser tattoo removal requires requires multiple treatments. During your complimentary consultation in our convenient downtown Halifax location, we’ll discuss the best way to approach the tattoo removal based on the size and complexity of the tattoo and your skin type.
An hour before treatment, we recommend applying a topical anesthetic cream. This will make the treatment much more comfortable, although you can expect to experience some discomfort. Treatments are very short: depending on the size of your tattoo, you can expect your session to last from just a few seconds to several minutes for an average-sized tattoo. At the end of a session, you can apply an ice pack to cool down the area, and we recommend applying a topical antibiotic ointment to encourage the skin to heal.
At the end of each appointment, you will notice a visible difference in the appearance of your tattoo. Appointments should be spread out at least 8 weeks apart to ensure that the area heals between sessions.
